You wonder what does a 19-year old female student/model/blogger, a 18-year old male art student/dancer/slacker, 21-year old female slumber doll and a 22-year old fashion eater/nurse have in common aside from residing in Manila?

At the Lookbook.nu fashion community, they’re models of their own fashion statements. It is here fashion enthusiasts creatively pose and post photos of their own fashion styles. Since the proliferation of fashion blog sites that feature street wear such as the Sartorialist or people who feature their everyday wear such as the popular French fashionista Alix of The Cherry Blossom Girl ; designers, fashion editors and stylists (and anyone in the fashion business) will tell you they look out what’s hot in these sites because of the amount of inspiration they bring.

To get in at the website, you have to sign up and wait for their approval. Although, it is worth the effort. Says one Manila lookbook lover Pamela Mejia on her tumbler blog,“I have been a lookbook-er since May 2009. It served as an inspiration to me (everyone looks good) and gave me a little pressure to practice my dressing myself up in a more liberated and aggressive (not necessarily showing skin).”

More and more fashion addicts from Manila are proudly showing off what they’re wearing now. It’s telling of what’s happening in thelocal fashion scene: Manila people are becoming more experimental and as edgy as their international counterparts.
