Shi-Da Road - The favourite area of the artsy people is located in the southern part of Taipei. Therefore, it’s named “South Village” as well. Now it’s like Greenwich in London or New Soho in New York more and more now with more and more artsy concept cafés around. There are many coffee shops here for a long time. Among them, some shop keepers have transformed the idea of café into a multi concept to combine coffee with art.
So next time, if you happen to have a chance to pop into any cafés here
in Shi-Da Road, don’t be surprised if you are asked: “Coffee or Art?”

It’s a factory to produce amazing gourmet cuisine with strong artsy taste and cosy interior design. Co-founders, Barbie and Angel, are talented ones already. They are not only hard working business people but also diligent learners to take many art courses themselves. As far as I know, the latest one is woodwork craft courses. They’ve develop their love for art into SaltPeanuts to have a small gallery. This year, they even set up an assigned exhibition agenda, such as oil or water painting to welcome artists with relevant work to show their talents without any fee required. If one ever really craves for gourmet food and art works in the same time, Salt Peanuts is definitely my first recommendation.

Café Mezone has always been a great supporter for art works for a long time. From 2001, Café Mezone has already deeply engaged with hand-made cuisine, artwork exhibitions and artsy activities already. For many people, Mezone is not just a “Café,” it’s a place to stop, to hang out with friends or just to be alone to enjoy oneself. With the newly open third generation of Mezone, there is a 66 square meters spacious exhibition area. Mezone opens its warm welcomes for artists and artsy lovers to redefine the inter-relationship among creators, works, space and audience.
